Was it only me or did anyone else notice Hillary shaking her head no while saying that her supporters should pay lip-service to Barack Obama,as she has? I know there are some of you who will say she is just so cute when she acts sincere. All seriousness aside, If I were Barack Obama I would rather kiss a cobra than have her rammed down my throat as a running mate! I am a Barack Obama supporter because I believe in his main motto when he says it is time for change. However he should not choose the person who had her husband extend the war in bosnia a little longer so that she could visit while the conflict was still going on. He should not choose the person who helped champion heathcare in the senate, Only to tell other members to go to =/;= if they didn't do it her way. Thus healthcare was tabled and nothing was done. Finally he should not choose the person who openly mocked him, made inferences about assassination and yes, voted to go to war in Iraq.If the Senator has somehow changed his mind about change and chooses her for his running mate, of course I won't support him. I will not vote for John McCain, because I am true to my word. I want CHANGE!!!!

Finally the truth about who Obama is will come out!!! I'm tired of so many real Americans being afraid to speak their true thoughts about the "Minority Rule" that has overtaken our country. "Political Correctness" has muted the majority of real Americans. Or are we muted because we are afraid of African Americans because they riot and burn down communities if they don't like the result of things that happen?( Rodney King and the burning in l.a.). Watch out "New Yorker"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Obama has already proven that he will do or say whatever it takes to win votes.

Wake up America!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if you want truth then, why is not bush and mcbush shown in their klucker sheets? It bodes ill for any candidate to meet with a known rasist such as George Wallace Jr. Mccain did. Not only that, he spoke at a racist group that GW jr. belongs to. Notice the similarity in names. George Wallace Bush, George Wallace Jr. If you think that is far fetched then you should know that the insane remarks about Barak are just as far fetched.

The real republicans are coming out and only if you could see the them, they are the ones with the white hoods, I believe they are KKK'ers and the closer to the election the more brave they become, talk about ignorance, wasn't it a white guy that committed the terrorist attack in Oklahoma. Oh, I forgot, the elephants only remember whats convenient, ignorance I tell you!!!

The true Barack Obama is emerging - an artful, savvy politician and not much else. Ironically, the darling of the mainstream media will be undone by the lopsided coverage. Notice how all his early, primary season rhetoric is becoming problematic for him now that he has to win a general election. No longer is winning the support of the left enough. He must convince the independent, THINKING voters that he can lead this country out of some very challenging domestic and international difficulties. His supporters will stick with him no matter what his positions morph into because they just want him.....they like the idea of him. His resume is so weak however that in the end, John McCain who has for the most part stayed true to his moderate self will emerge as the candidate Americans most trust to make the difficult decisions.
Oh one other thing, not hearing much from Barack about reaching across the aisle and "bringing America together" anymore because nobody has worked more successfully with the loyal opposition longer or better than McCain.

With Obama, you'll get change alright, change back to more government taking more of my earned income. And what change will that bring? Well, I will not be buying that car, etc.

And Obama has the audacity to state that this change is in the name of fairness??? The RNC does not need to run any other message than the tape of Obama saying that. Thinking and working Americans will see the folly of Obama.

Not that Hillary is worth her salt, but if Barack put her on his ticket he would probably be assassinated in short order; like others who mysteriously died during the Clinton reign. However, Mr. O is not the answer either. He's marvelous at being a pied piper but I fear he will keep this country on a slippery slope and I feel his wife is as much a bigot as she claims others are. If she's not proud of America let her leave.

OBAMA STANDS FOR CHANGE BUT ALWAYS UN-STATED OR VACILLATING POSITION ...., A CHANGE JUST FOR CHANGE IS NEVER THE PROPER DIRECTION THIS COUNTRY SHOULD BE GOING. HISTORY HAS REFLECTED ADJUSTMENTS FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF POSITIONS AND STATUS QUO CAN BE GOOD BUT IN MANY INSTANCES CHANGE HAS A NEGATIVE IMPACT. I QUESTION THE DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE of WHY THE CONFIDENCE OF THE FINANCIAL COMMUNITY AND THE AMERICAN PEOPLE IN THIS COUNTRY DROPPED SO SIGNIFICANTLY AFTER THE DRAMATIC CHANGE TO A DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS. THEY HAVE THE POWER BUT CAN'T ADDRESS OR COME TO A RATIONAL CONCLUSION OF WHICH DIRECTION TO HEAD .. AND BARACK WITH 143DAYS OF CONGRESSIONAL ATTENDENCE CERTAINLY IS NOT THE GUIDING LIGHT OF REDEMTION..

You're right on the mark, Robert. Braaaak O. is the last person we need in the White House.

John McCain is not perfect, but is head and shoulders above the alternative. The other thing that needs to happen is to get rid of the liberals in our congress.
They have stymied every move to solve our gas crisis.
I am ahunter and want to see our wildlife given a chance to prosper so my grandchildren can enjoy the same things I have, but it has been proven that drilling in Alaska would have no deliterious effects on their existance.

I know several black people I would vote for, but he is definitely not one of them!

There is only one thing he is sincere about, and that is his ambition to get himself ahead, regardless of what he has to do to get there!

You want change!!! Fine, if Obama gets in the White House you will get your change. But you aren't going to like it. Better think twice before you vote and support an in-experienced, pro-abortion candidate. You really believe that you will make more money, get free health insurance, pay little or no taxes, no war, no interest rates to speak of. Get real, Obama is a typical democrat, all talk and no show. I know one when I see and hear one. Been voting for domcratics for a long time but not this time. I wish you well with your choice only feel bad because it will be at my expense. And, guess what, it will be at your expense too.

Glad to see Bobby G's comments! MSMBC has and always will be left wing radical. To hear the Obama delutional zombies say he is the coming of the new millenia is hilarious!!!! There are so many niave, mush-brained lemmings that will follow Mr Smooth talk over the cliff that I almost believe that America has seen it's best days already. But, sorry, I am a realist that can see thru the bull that Obama is spewing and know that he may be the best teleprompter reader EVER. but has no real thoughts of his own. Tonight I would rate him as "PRESENT".

Thank you Thank you Bobby  I been saying the same thing, Affraid I am not. I do agree Obama is hiding. He is talking out of both sides of his mouth S.O.P when he gets caught he changes his story. The sad thing is here will be If he is elected it comes out and then the rest of us that were telling it the way we see it will have to do battle. Scared I am not just waiting for the crap to hit the fan. Now I will be called close minded and liberal and alot of other things. But when the same fokes are crying because what you are saying is in their face welllllllll then we will know, apperantly the change that every one is speaking about is not going to be the change they want. But hey somtimes you can't talk to someone with there head buried in the sand.

I believe this gentleman needs to check his facts before he writes an opinion about anything! Fortunately there are accurate reporting sites which will contradict much of what hehas said--in written form; there has been too much said and written by opponents as truth. But history will prove manyof these opinions in their true light, and it's too bad we have a difficult time trying to ascertain what is true and what is false, especially in the past few years!

well, my friend, it appears we are getting change: more debt for the working citizen, less money in our bank accounts or to pay our bills, a healthcare system that is rotten to the core. I have a wonderful Mexican family living next door to me, some of them are here by slipping into our country, but I do not feel they or any other criminals should be given our social security or healthcare. el

A very good write up of your thoughts. I too want change and have wanted change for the last fifty years but it will never come about and I am sorry to say that I honestly believe Mr. Obama will be unable to make any real changes unless he gets the complete Congress and Senate control he will need, IF then. Why do I say this? Well, lets be honest about this whole voting mess.

We, the people of America know nothing about having a third party to integrate into the political arena with other very intelligent, honest and vigorous men and women who are trying to stimulate our Country and its citizen's within. The constant bickering between the Dems and GOP will never cease. It is part of their strategy to keep things so messed up that the American people have to take whatever
might come by for them. How many times have we been told about Health Care, Tax relief, overall improvements in roads, Social Security (one of the biggest farces) which Pelosi now wants to tax, retirement income that is being proposed to be taxed. Thousands upon thousands of times and the end result is: Same thing, NEVER HAPPENS nor does the current Congress or Senate members give a hoot as long as they are taken care of and that everyone can count on. The gas situation is another blunder that no one wants to confront either in both parties.

No, no changes will be made and I look to see this Country have change with the elimination of the Middle Class entirely and utter chaos in every State in the Union.

John McCain is indeed a hero in my opinion. I too am a veteran of two wars and have paid my price for my fellow man, not to the extent however of those who never returned home. McCain means well and as far as I'm concerned his age has no bearing but again, he can't make or do anything if elected and a Democratic Congress/Senate are placed in the soft chairs of the chambers.

I have researched Mr. Ron Paul, his background, education, ideas and although some are not to my particular liking he also wants change that will benefit the American people. Real changes which he would never get with the current two party system. I'm going to vote for him regardless, while knowing he may only get at most 15-18% of the vote count. I will feel satisfied that I didn't add another four years to the misery coming upon us.

I do not feel sorry for Hillary Clinton except for the fact that she had a huge rock to haul around during her campaigning with her so-called husband, Bill who, again in my opinion did nothing to really support or help his wife. His legacy to the White House is well established as to the type of individual he is and still continues that way of life from what I hear and read. Hillary is intelligent, agressive and will do anything to achieve her own aims. I hope that she never again sees the inside of the White House.

I think the current poll on whether or not Bush should be impeached is definitely skewed. Real Bush supporters won't watch anything except FOX News. With over 500,000 votes, this poll is showing 89% in favor of impeachment. I think support for Bush is much higher than that among the general demographic, probably as high as 20% in some places, almost twice as much as indicated here.

Will people ever grow up.  Most of the people that voted for Obama love the muslims, don't care if they kill unborn babies.  Mr Bush loved the American people including the unborn babies.  He also wanted the welfare people to get a job to lighten up the load the average tax payer has to pay.  Our morals are dead and all the Obamb's in the world are not going to bring back the morals unless we all get on our knees and pray.  He can keep saying to help your country and if wee supported God that would be possible.  Otherwise, forget it.

I rated this article rather high, because it was straightforward and logical in its explanation of polling, etc., as far as it went. The real question, and perhaps what earned lower votes from many people, is the omission of the real reason why the polling discrepancies occur: Fox News and other "mainline" news sources are obviously synchronized to discuss only what is politically correct, and to ignore or ridicule anyone who dares to think and speak off the accepted script! Had the regular media given a fair shake to Ron Paul, he would easily have been the favorite for the simple reason that he stands out and has workable ideas that appeal to real Americans -- that is people who have actually thought about what it means to live responsibly in our constitutional republic. But, instead of playing fair, the media chose to "chew our food" for us and tell us their version of who "couldn't win" and who were the "front runners" (choosing Guiliani even after Ron Paul trounced him in the Iowa caucuses!), and generally failing to report the high percentages Ron Paul did win in many western states. Granted, individuals have a duty to seek out the truth about issues, but many have abdicated that responsibility, instead relying on their favorite newscaster/spin doctors. So, the MSNBC polls reach the self-motivated researchers, the thinking people.

Your #1 - Actually it was Clinton who had Bin - he has been wanted for years and Clinton screwed up. Had he not the towers may well be standing. I think Obama speaks very well. I listen to him whenever I can. This election is very important to all of us. I take the time to listen to both of our candidates. With Obama I still have not heard what his true plans for "this Change". I have heard reference to things that he cannot nor can McCain change. Folks are we going on the Glory that for the first time in America a man with dark skin has the chance to live in our "house". Is that what we should look at. I am a Red-Headed Irish, German Girl and I married a Mexican/German, Irish, American Indian Man. We have two beautiful children who are known as "Mexican" Americans. I prefer "Americans". Their ancestry is Irish and German on my side on their fathers side German, Irish, Hispanic, American Indian. So what is that exactly. A Mexican American? America I have watched since the middle 60's our ancestry become a race here in America. Mexican/Hispanics on their birth records were listed as Caucasian as there are only 4 races - please look that up. Or did something change? Mexican, Irish, African, all ancestry. Obama is half of his Mother and half of his father and little drops of all the ones that came before them in the creation - had his skin tone been his Mothers and not his Fathers would he be praised as he is today? Half folks - of two people and their ancestry. Two races mixed made who. When can we start calling ourselves American and follow with the proud reminder of where our ancestors came from Africa, Ireland, German, "one big" melting pot folks. Show me one person that is one pure race in America and I will show you a first arrived generation that is becoming Americans. Or someone that has been in a society that is so racist they enter marry.

Sorry but I am still looking for a truth in both of the Gentleman and a really great truth in all of us - Americans. If my children looked like me would others call them Mexican Americans and folks if Obama looked like his Mother (which he does, his skin is just darker) would he be running on a ticket that is praising having someone with dark skin in "Our House? Look at the issues please and get past the design of the skin.

The US never learns, the military arms merchants that sell advanced weaponry to the world only set us up for another bloody conflict down the road. The US sold weapons of mass destruction to Saddam, supplied rockets to the Taliban, Sold fighter jets to Iran, sells and give massive quantities of weapons to Pakistan and Georgia. We are the ones who helped Israel steal the land from Palestine, with our weapons and our solders (mercenaries). Bush does not represent the people, he represents the corporate interest, the people who profit from selling the weapons, enjoying the spoils, and stealing our tax dollars on no-bid contracts for their friends. Make no mistake, McCain will be more of the same. Look at his first decision, choosing a running mate who is the "The Oil Goddess of the North" . And not only is she just another oily VP, she somehow wants us to believe she values life but at the same time promotes the death penalty. Am I the only one who was shocked and horrified that she apparently condones lynching with her comment about 'hangin em '. Just perfect for the racists and far right extremists, white supremacists et al. who have been so consumed with fear manufactured and exported by Bush/Cheney et al that they don't even see that they are being manipulated. We only hope that the American people have learned that more weapons sales, more lynchings, more government forcing women to have unwanted babies, more oil company profits, more ignorance, more decaying infrastructure, more dead soldiers and more Republicans is not in our best interest .

TRUE THESE THINGS HAVE BEEN GOING ON BUT WHY ARE THE REPUBLICANS ALWAYS BLAMED. HOW LONG NOW HAS THE CONGRESS BEEN RULED BY DEMOCRATS, AND WHAT HAS CHANGED? NOTHING.
ABOUT WOMEN HAVING UNWANTED BABIES, HAVE THEY EVER HEARD OF SAYING NO TO SEX? OUR WHAT ABOUT THE HUNDREDS OF WAYS WE HAVE TO PROTECT OUR SELVES FROM BECOMING PREGNANT IN THE FIRST PLACE.
DEATH PENALTY: I AM ALL FOR IT! IF IT WAS YOUR CHILD OR A FAMILY MEMBER KILLED, WHAT, WOULD YOU WANT TO MEET THE KILLER AND SHAKE HIS/HER HAND AND TRY TO UNDERSTAND WHAT UNDERLYING PROBLEM THAT MONSTER HAD FOR KILLING. NOTHING A MURDERER HAS BEEN THROUGH IN HIS/HER PAST OR PRESENT VALIDATES MURDER. DO YOU NOT WATCH THE NEWS ABOUT THESE ANIMALS THAT GET OUT OF PRISON ONLY TO MURDER AGAIN. HOW MANY TIMES DOES SOME ONE HAVE TO COMMIT THIS TERRIBLE CRIME BEFORE YOUR READY TO QUIT FEELING SORRY FOR THEM, AND DO SOMETHING! IF WE DO DECIDE TO PUT THEM AWAY FOR LIFE, IT IS OUR TAX DOLLARS PAYING TO FEED THEM, HOUSE THEM, PAY FOR THEIR CABLE TV'S, MEDICAL CARE. IT'S WELFARE FOR MURDERERS! I WOULDN'T WANT TO PAY TO CARE FOR THE WELFARE OF SOMEONE WHO KILLED MY CHILD OR ANY ONE ELSES. LET THEM HAVE THEIR DAY IN COURT AND IF FOUND GUILTY BY A JURY OF THEIR PEERS, THEY SHOULD RECIEVE THE DEATH PENALTY, AND THE JUDGEMENT SHOULD BE IMMEDIANT. EVEN IF IT WAS A FAMILY MEMBER THAT WAS FOUND GUILTY, I WOULD FEEL THE SAME WAY.
OUR GOVERNMENT HAS GONE CRAZY, WETHER ITS THE REPUBLICANS OR DEMOCRATS. I DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIX IT, BUT I DO KNOW OBAMA IS NOT THE ANSWER. I AM ACTUALLY AFRAID OF WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF OUR COUNTRY FALLS INTO HIS SOCIALIST HANDS!

If Obama wins the White House, the American is completely ruined. He has said he doesn't like White People. There will be Languages other than English.

He is a Terrorism, linked to Cuba, will not sing the Pledge of Alliance and refuses to cross his heart saying if they sang his song, he would sang. He wants no Christians in America.

He is also linked to Ben Laddin. He further states all people will be alike, he will take from the people who have worked all their lives for SSA and the disabled and give to the foreignors. He is to wet behind the ears and doesn't know what to do in the White House.

We will be loosing our homes, anything we have saved as it will be taken away from us.

We need no more foreignors in the U.S, they take our jobs at a lower pay. You can not get a job in America if you do not have one, unless, you speak Spanish. People refuse to speak English in our Country. If we go out OF the country, they will not speak English for us (I am an American with a Spanish last name) nor will they give us anything. The Border to Mexico should be closed and the wall built.

Bush took from my dying son his Medicaid, I am sick myself and he disabled for a long time and was receiving all of his benefits until the foreignors came in and then they give it all to them as soon as they land here. What a Communist mess the USA will be in. There is no longer FREEDMON OF SPEACH. I have worked since age 14 and now they say they will take from us and give to the foreignors coming in and make us equal. Not Right. He himself cheated on his wife as it was in the news and magazines. Who does he think he is.We need IN GOOD WE TRUST AND OUR AMERICAN FLAG, HE SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED IN AMERICAN, TAKING THE FLAG FROM HIS AIRPLANCE AFTER SPENDING $500,000.IN REPAIRS AND PUT HIS NAME ON IT WITH THE CUBAN FLAG. HE HAS A CUBAN FLAG IN HIS OFFICE WITH A PICTURE OF CASTRO. HE DOESN'T CARE FOR AMERICA. WHERE IS HE GETTING ALL OF THIS MONEY IF NOT FROMAL QUADAM?I DON'T KNOW WHAT PEOPLE ARE THINKING OF WHEN THEY THINK OF HIM AS PRESIDENT. HE DID NOT WIN FLORIDA OR MICHIGAN BUT THEY GAVE HIM ALL THE VOTES AND EVERTHING ELSE. HILLARY WON BOTH STATES AND ACTUALLY WON THE NOMINATION,THEY TOOK FROM HER. BILL CLINTON WAS A GREAT PRESIDENT, HE LEFT HE ECOMONY WITH A SURPLUS, NOW WE ARE BROKE, HIGH GAS, EVERYTHING SO HIGH OUT OF SIGHT FOR THE PEOPLE, ESPECIALLY THE DISABLED AND ELDERLY. COULD GO ON AND ON. IF THAT WOMAN HAD NOT PLANNED THIS ON CLINTON, SHE WOULD NOT HAVE GIVEN THE DRESS TO HER MOTHER TO SAVE FOR A LATER DATE. THIS WAS PLANNED AND THERE IS NOT ONE PRESIDENT WHO DID NOT CHEAT AND DO OTHER THINGS. THEY SHOULD LEAVE THE BEST PRESIDENT ALONE. YES HE WAS THE BEST. THIS WAS A PERSONAL SITUATION PLANNED, THE OTHERS WERE JUST KEPT A SECCRET AND OUT OF THE NEWS.

Mr. E Coulson said one thing that I agree with; Obama should not be elected president of this Country; America will be in big trouble if he is.

Mr. Obama has not been explicit regarding what changes he would bring about, but I do believe that whatever he has in mind bodes ill for all Americans, and especially the middle class. His idea of wind fall taxes on the oil companies would only cause the price of gasoline to rise even higher; those funds would only benefit the government, not the citizens. Obama would give us larger government and higher taxes; two things we certainly don't need.

In my opinion, Mr. Obama has reinvented himself so many times he makes Al Gore look like a piker, and we all know how many times old Al has changed his persona.

"Bodice Ripper"??? Come on. That phrasing went out with the 70's. The only people who still use that term are ones who neither read nor understand what a romance novel is.

Today's romance novel include all genres from hard science fiction to fantasy, paranormals, historicals, chick lit, time travels and more. There are as many genres of romance novels as there are readers. And since romance novels comprise nearly 50 % of the paperback market, that's a lot of readers.

The people who worded this poll should take a real look at what today's romance novels are all about - trust me, bodice rippers does not fit.

You skewed your own survey -- horribly! -- on whether people read romance novels by calling romance novels, within the survey, "bodice rippers." A bodice ripper is a type of romance novel written in the late 1970s or early 1980s that often featured rape or similar physical violence as part of the "seduction." I don't read bodice rippers. I do read romance novels. I also personally know a large number of romance authors, and none of them write bodice rippers.

Try to picture someone referring to one of Jane Austen's six romance novels as a "bodice ripper" and perhaps you'll get a clue. But education is a good thing. :-)

Your online surveys are generally interesting, and you explain the limits and biases well. But the Tiger Woods survey currently running is more flawed than usual: the prompt on your landing page is given in the affirmative format, but the actual survey question is stated negatively. In other words, if you click on the initial prompt and think Tiger will succeed, a Yes answer is implied. But the wording of the actual prompt requires a No answer to indicate that Tiger will succeed. That makes your results more flawed than the limits of an open online survey would normally cause.

Maybe your pollsters should try reading a few romance novels before using misinformed, stereotypical labels of said books as "bodice rippers!" Get your facts straight before skewing your questions (go to the RWA National website and read about the current industry and readership stats (www dot rwanational dot org).

You may be surprised to find out how many people buy romances today and, yes, enjoy them, regardless of gender, age, geography, religious or political beliefs, and education levels.

Two stats that I enjoy sharing about romance readers are that:
                              22% are male
                              42% have a bachelor's degree or higher

Some of us "choose" to read and/or write romances and thank goodness for choice. All I ask of readers is that they try a handful of different subgenres/romances before turning their nose up at them.

Please, no one calls them "bodice rippers" anymore. The term is derogatory and uninformed. There are many more facets to romance novels than your poll indicates. I have two graduate degrees and read widely, among them, romance novels.

Bodice Rippers??? Get out of the dark ages, people. Perhaps the historical novels of old were bodice rippers, but you've not taken a good look at modern romance. It's everywhere and nary a ripped bodice to be seen. Broaden your horizens and read a book by Susan Crosby or Allison Brennan, or Deb Salonen, or Brenda Novak or Eileen Rendahl or Terry McLaughlin and many more. No ripped bodices there. Just danged good writing with excellent plots and characters!!

I watch and like your show. i agree on many if not most of the things you say but on the second amendment you are missing one thing. The second amendment says in the most important part that the right of the people to bear arms shall not be infringed. This means not that the second amendment gives us the right, but that this right, the right to bear arms for protection a god given right, shall not be infringed. Again the second amendment does NOT give us this right but protects it. By the way, I know you are a smart man and as such you must have seen at least one of the many (non NRA) statistics that shows that where this right is taken away, only the crooks will have guns and in D.C. they have had out of control homicide rates every year starting two years after their ban went into effect.

I agree that if guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns. My family and I live in the country. We have livestock. We also have a local cougar (who has proweled the grade school durring classes!) and other wildlife (coyotes, bobcats, etc.) and may need firepower to protect ourselves and/or livestock. We have weapons for protection from four legged and two legged predators. We will not give them up. If we will be outlaws for having protection, then so be it.

Joyce, You are correct in that "animals" are a big issue. I live and work in a large urban area where we have "animals" too. Ours are the two legged kind that kill, rape, rob and pillage seemingly at will. The best solution is to elect not to be a victim. Good gun control is hitting what you shoot at every time! Unfortunately, we choose to blame the victim in this country and forget that a gun is only a tool that can be used for good or bad... just like a knife or shovel. We have adequate laws on the books to prosecute misuse of firearms and to regulate ownership. What we need to do is enforce and prosecute those who violate these laws.

He is a socialist , who hangs out with communists, at a time when even old communist countries (eg Russia) are thriving by adapting capitalists behaviors. Please educate yourself before you vote.
Bush tried to open areas for US drilling 5 years ago, because he saw the writing in the wall and the Democrats blocked it. No other country in the WORLD would ( or does) sacrifice it's security or it's economy the way these radicals make us. Again, really educate yourself before believing all the hype.

OH we've got live one. Ladies and gentlemen I give you "Robert" - arrogant, cruel idiot. The exact opposite of the Good Samaritan.

Robert thinks that helping your fellow man is "immoral". Robert is the guy you would beat homeless people up when he was 18. Robert had everything handed to him on a silver plate and then starts to get angry when anyone diminishes how hard he "worked" to get it.

Robert is the guy in the bible who throws the first stone. Robert has a large log in his own eye and he will vote Republican because of it.

Just saw the polls of the yanks, who are self-servants, wanting an easy way out, no matter what it might do to the environment, as long as it alleviates the stress on their budgets.
Hey, stop spending your bucks on electronic entertainment. Start taking walks in
order to see the trees and wildlife.

Any coastal off-shore drilling for oil is a temporary stop-gap measure. In the long
run, we all need to look to new ways to get around. So don't @!$%# up the coastlines
in order to fill up the monstrous wagons you call 'necessary' vehicles to transport your

Get a grip and start caring. About someone other than yourself.

Worried about the coastlines where were you when big developers moved in built right on them and have caused great problems so don't worry about them now, they are already in bad shape and so go ahead and drill... This country went down hill when this political correctness started and quiet frankly it makes me sick. You want to straighten the country out get down on you hands and knees and ask God to come back. Of course someone will have to teach Obama about the Bible.

I witnessed first hand the destruction of Santa Barbara's shoreline when the oil spill took place in the late 1960's. You will NEVER see that happen again because people will not allow that. NEVER! It is the oil industry itself that not only has enjoyed record profiteering, they now are mounting PR campaigns to confuse a dimwitted American public about increased oil exploration (something that is unsustainable, costly, and too slow to resolve our present "crisis"). Yeah--we haven't learned a thing over time. Let's continue to rape the Earth, over-consume, and ignore all that the energy companies have taught us: anyone remember Enron? Unbelievable. We deserve what befalls us.

alex the oil spill was in 1960-they have advance in safer drilling-if you hate oil do much, walk or ride a bike, but your most likely to out of shape.

I have just read the article about a teacher who burnt crosses (crucifix) into students arms. In the UK, we have just read about two children suspended from their school for refusing to take part in a Muslim prayer (the children concerned are from "Christian" (I don't know if that necessarily means practising here!) families)...
As a teacher, I object to any teacher who harms their (young) students as I can be affected by the stereotypes people build up of us (not always positive). It becomes harder, if there are religious undertones. I am an atheist and rarely do any of students find out that I am (I also teach in Italy, where I assume (although, it should NEVER matter either way...) my students are catholic)- the lesson is not an appropriate environment for this discussion.
I admire those who can find a belief and stay with it; this does show a sense of committing to something, but I am not interested personally. I don't want to add unwanted bad "vibes" to the lesson...
The only time a religious class is necessary is when the state and the schools have asked for that provision. Leave religious teaching to one teacher and, make the religious education (in multi-faith schools) to the religious teacher in his/her lessons! All other teachers should keep those feelings to themselves, just like their political affiliations; marital/sexual preferences and banking transactions! These are all irrelevant discussions in the classroom!

It is a disgrace to America to have reached such a level of moral decay that someone - for money or political gain disguised as "freedom of expression" - can stoop so low in the human race to even think of using what we usually call "dirty laundry" whether true or false, as the battered Presidency of George W. Bush comes to an end. There used to be a term derived from boxing rules that you can hit as hard as you can and "knock out" your opponent, but even in such a rough sport it still is accepted that one fighter should not hit the other "below the belt".

I pray that Mrs. Bush in the graciousness that she has shown for eight years as the First Lady of the United States will forgive the writer or intellectual author(s) of the book. Such work must come from minds difficult to concieve in the life of human beings in a civilized society - full of either greed, hatred or both. I wonder if they can go to sleep at night in peace with themselves .

Freedom of speech and expression is one of the basic tenants of our nation. If we truly believe in this nation, then that means all speech, not just that with which we agree. The book seems sophomoric to me, and badly written, if the excerpt is an example of the entire book. However, it should still be able to be written--it's our choice to read or buy the book. The public will choose to enrich the author or not--that's entirely up to us.

George W. Bush has been the real embarrassment to this nation, that's what should make us the most uncomfortable and angry. Presidential wives get dragged along--but usually because they agree to be dragged. (Power has a tremendous pull about it.) I like those that state their own opinions, not those that sit silently by while their husband promotes a view they disagree with. Their husband doesn't have to cave to their viewpoint, but I'd like to know they have brains enough to dissent occasionally. My husband and I have been married for 38 years, and often don't agree on issues. That doesn't mean either of us should remain mute.

George's mother personified this when she sat silent during George Sr.'s vice-presidency and presidency, and then, once out of office, announced she did not agree with his abortion stand. This family has a long-standing history on women keeping their mouths shut while their husbands are in office. I'm looking for a mate with an opinion--how refreshing that would be. And I'm especially hoping for an electorate that doesn't draw and quarter them when they speak their mind. It's way past time to stop that madness.

Laura Bush does not deserve this kind of treatment, she has sit by,minded her own business and continued doing good things for education and among other things stayed out of politics so her husband could do his job. there are so many people, good people that would run for office, locally, and nationally if we good Americans would support instead of hinder,we vote them in so lets support and if we don't like then vote them out, thats part of being patriotic we've been talking about. I'm a republican but i hardly ever agree with democrats but i do agree with Mrs. Obama when she said Americans are mean.

I do not find this magazine cover offensive but ACCURATE!!! Has anyone read the books that Obama has written???? Before you decide to vote for him you'd better do your research - I have have!!! Obama has stated that if it comes down to it he will side with the MUSLIMS!!!! Why has he visited IRAN and Muslim nations??? Dressed up in Muslim clothing - DID you see the photogaraph??? If he supports or troops and loves this nation why has he not been to IRAQ to visit the troops??? He would in fact be their Commander in Chief if he were to be elected yet he does not find it important enough to go there to meet them, to see the conditions they are living in, to see the sacrifices they are making for the nation that he wants to be the leader of????? Hello AMERICA - WAKE UP - Obama has not been truthful nor straight forward in any of his speeches or comments during this election process. He has a hidden agenda and he will give this country away to the Muslim nations if he has the chance. There is so much more to him and his wife than meets the eye and a UNTIED America is not on the agenda for either of them. READ the LITERATURE that he has written before he wanted to be President. You will get a new prespective of who this man really is and what he believes - he doesn't present his true self to the public now that he is running for office!!!

One only has to read his book, and check their record while running for the Commander and Cheif of this great Nation. With respect to the flag, gun owners, church members, and his wife's comment about her respects to America. It's time the American people open there eyes and see the politicion not the real person running for this great office.

Enough is enough.....It just stirs up HATE from those who do believe this cover and what it stands for. The NY YORKER has lost its class and is now ranked up there with the rest of these scummy publications.....
In regards to the novel about the First Lady...I hope this character will reflect Laura"s escapades with drugs, running a stop sign and killing her boyfriend. Why would a supposedly sweet young librarian marry a druggie???? That speaks more than words can!
